Brief information about Hingoli town and district

Hingoli is a small town in Marathwada state of Maharashtra. Hingoli is bordered by Akola and Yewotamal to the north, Parbhani to the west and Nanded to the southeast. The district was formed on May 1, 1999 by dividing Parbhani district.

Aundha Nagnath, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, is located in the Hingoli area. As of 2011 it is the third least populated district in Maharashtra (out of 39) after Sindhudurg and Gadchiroli.

Hingoli district has a total population of 1,177,345 as per 2011 census. People mainly speak Marathi, Hindi, English and Urdu languages.
