Shirad Shahapur village in Aundha Nagnath taluk has one of the most historic temples of the Jain community. There is a statue of Lord Mallinath which is 300 years old. There is a legendary story behind the establishment of this temple. Many years ago this idol was kept at Ardhapur. Bhattkar Sri Premanand once appears at the idol place of other idol worshipers and gets angry. He sought Nizam’s permission to transfer the idol to Karanj.
The Nizam allowed him to take the idol to Karanj. While he was travelling, he once stayed at Shirad Shahpur. There he saw a dream in which the message came to establish the idol at Shirad Shahpur, only to exist as a famous temple. Now it is built with facilities for the convenience of tourists. Many Jain pilgrims from all over India come here.
This pilgrimage site is 55 km from Nanded, 45 km from Parbhani by road and 35 km from Hingoli. Can be reached by private vehicle.
